The windshield antifreeze had filled up the inside of the hatch. So &#8211; when I opened the hatch &#8220;it started raining&#8221; into the car. Not all that nice&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>A quick internet search determined that it was not an uncommon issue. The factory tubing<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_95\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-95\" style=\"width: 180px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-95\" src=\"http:\/\/192.243.103.25\/armaturenbrett\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog\/repair\/MKVI_Rear_Window_Washer\/IMG_20171124_1333181-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"180\" height=\"135\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kwbugclub.org\/armaturenbrett\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog\/repair\/MKVI_Rear_Window_Washer\/IMG_20171124_1333181-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.kwbugclub.org\/armaturenbrett\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog\/repair\/MKVI_Rear_Window_Washer\/IMG_20171124_1333181-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.kwbugclub.org\/armaturenbrett\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog\/repair\/MKVI_Rear_Window_Washer\/IMG_20171124_1333181-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.kwbugclub.org\/armaturenbrett\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog\/repair\/MKVI_Rear_Window_Washer\/IMG_20171124_1333181.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 180px) 100vw, 180px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-95\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tubing<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>is similar to the split-loom wiring covers but without the split&#8230;except in my case I had now developed splits in the tubing.<\/p>\n<p>The split occurs in the rubber &#8220;accordion&#8221;\u00a0between the body and the hatch. It is best to remove the inner hatch plastic in order to gain access to the inside of the hatch. The plastic<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_94\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-94\" style=\"width: 180px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-94\" src=\"http:\/\/192.243.103.25\/armaturenbrett\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog\/repair\/MKVI_Rear_Window_Washer\/IMG_20171124_1333278-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"180\" height=\"135\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kwbugclub.org\/armaturenbrett\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog\/repair\/MKVI_Rear_Window_Washer\/IMG_20171124_1333278-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.kwbugclub.org\/armaturenbrett\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog\/repair\/MKVI_Rear_Window_Washer\/IMG_20171124_1333278-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.kwbugclub.org\/armaturenbrett\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog\/repair\/MKVI_Rear_Window_Washer\/IMG_20171124_1333278-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.kwbugclub.org\/armaturenbrett\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog\/repair\/MKVI_Rear_Window_Washer\/IMG_20171124_1333278.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 180px) 100vw, 180px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-94\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Accordion<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>can be removed by undoing the two Torx screws in the &#8220;inside handle&#8221; of the hatch. After these two screws are removed &#8211; the lower hatch cover can be &#8220;pulled&#8221; off, as is it is just<\/p>\n<p>trim clips remaining.\u00a0 The upper is also &#8220;snap off&#8221; as it&#8217;s only held with trim clips.
